In 2007 Jay Nichols (who was previously managing editor of
Fly Fisherman magazine for six years) started Headwater Books with these two goals in mind:
• Meet readers' increasing demands for detailed and reliable fly fishing and fly tying information
• Provide unparalleled service and support to authors throughout the publishing process.
Through a partnership with Stackpole Books, a respected name in fly fishing and outdoor sports books, Headwater Books provides the distribution and marketing of a large company, with the service of a small one.
